I received a phone call from a potential client a while back. In many ways, corporate video production is a lot like having a house built. And just like having a house built, clients always want to know how much will it cost. The answer is easy; It depends. When building a house there are questions like "how many floors will it have", how much square footage will there be", what kinds of windows, doors, siding, roofing"....and on and on.
Corporate video production is very similar. But the questions become "how long will it be, will it be motion graphics or love action, how much lighting and audio will it need, what kind of music will be needed, how many actors and locations"...and on and on. The best thing to do is start with a budget and then ask your video production company to help achieve your content marketing goal. Choose the right professional company and they will be able to help with concept, scripts and all the other things that can go into a corporate video production. Be prepared for suggestions on how to stay within your video budget while coming away with a project that tells your story and does it in a way that makes your company look good.
She was looking to have a video made for her company in Dubai. After getting to know a little bit about what her company did, I started trying to get an idea of what she had in mind for her video. About four questions in I could hear the exasperation in her voice as she said "I just need a video made." Unfortunately, the conversation kind of went downward from there. I think she became exasperated and decided to move on. She had the expectation that hiring a production company to make a video was a quick and easy process.
